[It was the day of Kase.  He went 3 for 6, and he
 pitched against Iguchi in the nineth inning with
 two outs.  Iguchi grounded out to second baseman.
 Kase was a nice left-handed pitcher in his high
 school days, just the same as Ichiro, and he often
 practiced pitching in spring training camp.  But
 I think that his pitching is nothing but attraction.
 Blue Wave batters got 20 hits in total.  Hawk starter
 Watanabe Tomio was bad]

[The Tigers won three games in a row!  Buffalo pitchers gave
 13 walks (including hit batters) in total, but the Tigers
 were credited with 13 left-on-bases.  Yoshioka of the Buffaloes
 got his second homer.
    Before the game, Randy Bass came to Koshien as a commentator
 (with a translater :-) to meet the Tiger manager Yoshida.
 It was them who led 1985 Tigers to clinch the pennant.
 Tiger fans hope that things go as in 1985 season]


At Kumamoto

[Marine rookie shortstop Kosaka went 3 for 4.  But in the
 bottom of the 9th inning, on the play of 1-6-3 double play,
 he failed to touch the second base and threw to first.
 Unfortunately there was the runner on third and score was tied
 when the play happened, so the Hawks won.
  Hawk rookie Matsunaka went 3 for 4.  Marine new foreign
 pitcher Mike Fyhrie started but he allowed three runs in the
 third inning]

 inning]

[Kawajiri started for the Tigers.  He went to the 5th

 Yoshii started for the Swallows, pitched for three
 innings with two hits.  Inaba went 3 for 5.
     Greenwell has announced that he will miss for
 more six weeks so he can't play for the Tigers
 until the top of May]

 the worst in both leagues, but it is not true"

 batters got 24 hits but no homeruns]

 sacrifice fly]

[Today, it was the day of 'singles'.  All Blue Wave players
 in roster were singles (unmarriaged).  It was interesting
 that fans who have something related with 'single' can
 watch the game in free.  For instance, you could enter
 the park in free if you can prove youself to be a single,
 or you have an exam sheet with the points less than 10 :-)

 Kase finally started for the Blue Wave.  He threw only in
 the first inning, allowing no hits, but both he and Ichiro,
 who hit fourth in the batting order, went 1 for 4.
 Nomura started for the Bay Stars and he went to the end of
 the third inning, allowing two hits]


At Fukuoka Dome

[Yamamoto started for the Dragons.  He was expected
 to throw for five or more innings, but he couldn't.
 He was ejected in the 5th inning.  Williams pitched
 for two innings well.  Actually he got three men
 struck out in the 8th inning.  Sun also pitched well
 in the 9th inning.  As for the Marines, rookie Takekiyo
 started.  He was bad in the first inning, but not bad
 in the other innings]


At Osaka Dome

[This is the first game at the Osaka Dome.  Buffaloe
 rookie Maekawa started but he was too bad in the first
 inning.  Kuwata again started for the Giants and he
 was good until the end of the 3rd inning, but after
 he allowed Rhodes to hit a homer in the 4th inning,
 he became too bad.  In late innings,  the Giants
 sent Iriki, a rookie, and the Buffaloes sent Ishige,
 who has been traded from the Giants, and Akahori.
 All of them pitched good]

 Matsunaka, a Hawk rookie, will be missed for three
 weeks because of his injury.

shoulder, saw a doctor and the doctor said that he should
not pitch for next two weeks.

 any hits yet :-)]

 he seemed good.  The Giant manager Nagashima sent Kawaguchi
 and Kida late in this game to win a prize, 7 milion yen;
 about 60,000 US$ :-)]
