[Results on March 30]

Baseball season has started!  But it rained
in all over Japan and the game at Kobe has
been rained out.

[It was a game in rain.  The opening pitcher of
 the Marines was not Irabu but Sonokawa.  Oh, 
 the manager of the Hawks, got angry to hear that
 but the Hawks couldn't win.  Not only Oh but
 every one was surprised at Sonokawa.  Moreover,
 every one was surprised once more when Sonokawa
 was changed on based loaded with two outs in the
 top of 5th.  Yes, he could almost have the right
 to win.  Anyway, the Marines had won the opening
 game without help of Irabu]

 Ichiro got no hits, in paticular, it was

 had hard luck]

[I don't like much about this game.  Saitoh

 games (1994-1996).   Glenn Davis of the Tigers
 and Hirosawa of the Giants are out of roster
 because of their injury.  As a result, Hirosawa
 had to stopped his record of continuous game
 streak]

 of 10th, Hiyama got a single to left
 with one out and runner on second and
 first, but LF Deguchi got second runner
 Hiratsuka out at the home plate]

 the left foul pole.  I can't still believe
 that the Tigers can score so high]

[At 4th, the Swallows gave 2 runs for the Giants
 with two errors:  one by RF Inaba. He threw to
 the plate, intending to get out second runner
 Matsui.  His throw hopped and seemed to bound
 irreguraly.  Anyway C Furuta missed the ball
 and letting Matsui score, who stopped at third.
 The other one by SS Miyamoto.  Manto hit a pop
 fly a little behind of SS.  Miyamoto coundn't
 get it with both hands up into air, which we
 Japanese call "banzai".  The Giants got another run.
 The Giants went ahead with Ochiai's homer at 6th.
 Mack followed him at the 7th and the Giants won]

[The Tigers led two homeruns by Ishimine and Hiyama
 at the 1st.  But Kakuri was not so good that he
 allowed the Dragons to tie.  The Tigers tied with
 another 3-run homer of Hiyama at the 6th, but at
 the bottom of the same inning, rookie Nakanose
 allowed 3 hits and became the losing pitcher.
 The Dragons sent Sun at the 8th to win]

 led with Matsui's 2-run homer.  At the

 out with runner and everyone thought that
 the Giants would win the game.  Then Galvez
 allowed 3 continous hits: a double by Furuta,
 a homerun by Ikeyama and another double by
 Inaba.  Nishiyama relieved but Kanamori, PH
 for Bross, hit the game-winning grounded single 
 to right]

[The Hawks presented win for the Blue Wave!
 At the 1st inning, with two men outs and runners
 on first and second, the batter grounded to short.
 But 1B dropped the ball from SS and second runner
 scored.  Just after that, Neel jamed and broke his
 bat but batted ball dropped just in front of LF and
 another run.  At the bottom of 9th,  Ichiro got a 
 "infield fly" with no runners and one out, but no
 men got it ("Alphonse and Gaston play", as it were,
 but there were three fielders there :-).  Fujii got
 the game-ending single to center with bases loaded
 and one out and Ichiro scored]

[Takeuchi was tooooo bad.  At the 1st inning,
 Tatsunami got a 2-run homer, Taihoh got a
 grand slam, and again Tatsunami got a 2-run
 RBI single.  Taihoh hit back-to-back homerun
 at 2nd.  Imanaka, who pitched for 6.1 innings,
 didn't allow 2nd runner against the Tigers
 until the end of 6th]

 homerun to right]

[Ichiro and Takahashi Ken were bad.  Ichiro
 kicked the ball when the batter hit a single
 to right with bases loaded, allowing all runners
 to score.  Ichiro got his first GDP in this season
 and also he flied out at chance of bases loaded
 with two outs.  Sakumoto became the first rookie
 winning pitcher in this season.  He relieved Bolton
 in 2nd inning, and pitched for 4 innings]

[Both starters, Ohno and Yabu, pitched very well.
 The Tigers caught up with the Carp by a 2-run
 RBI double of Shinjo at the 8th.  In extra innings
 (I forgot when but 10th or 11th?) the Tigers had
 chance of runners on second and third with one out,
 but they couldn't score.  At 13th, the Carp led
 by Nishiyama's grounder with runners on second and
 third and one out]

 almost arrived at third, and threw to second directly:
 Everyone thought that Deguchi would throw to
 SS Kawai but he didn't. So Hiratsuka tried home.
 Deguchi couldn't get Glenn out and Hiratsuka scored.
 At bottom of 8th, Nishiyama walked two men on bases
 loaded with one out.  The Giants need really reliable
 relievers (I hear that Galvez would pitch if the Giants
